Poems About America
Innocence A tribute to the quality of innocence that is central to the heart of America. * The first crocuses came up early this year. In earliest April you could see their purple and white heads peeking timidly through the shrouding leaves which still covered them. As innocent and trusting as they are every year, they wait till the earth's inner clock bids them make their appearance, then rise like sleepy children and stretch out to the light above, knowing something of the possibility of another snow, Yet, sure of themselves, Sure of this inner timing that calls them to arise in innocence and trust. An act of grace, an act of surrender, emerging from an innocent earth that renews hope and life, making all things perpetually new.
